Eggman unveiled the Eclipse Cannon, his ultimate weapon, and warned that he'd use it unless the entire population surrender to the Eggman Empire. What are Shadow's mysterious motives? 	Mr. Stewart parks his car outside the senior's home, and both he and Scarlet Garcia get out. Scarlet walks up to a few elderly people on the front porch.
Scarlet:	Excuse me. We made an appointment for an interview.	Excuse me. I'm Scarlet Garcia from SSTV News.

	As the shuttle enters space, Rouge speaks to Eggman on the computer's screen.
Rouge:	Your minions aren't very reliable.	Looks like your boys really goofed, didn't they, Doc?
Eggman:	That's none of your business!	None of your business!
Rouge:	Well, I'll prepare the counterattack. Give me the password to control the colony.	Fine. Let's launch the counterattack. How about giving me the password for the colony?
Eggman:	M-A-R-I-A. 'Maria'. I'm counting on you. I'll be on standby aboard Crazy Gadget.	M-A-R-I-A. "Maria". That's the magic word. Meanwhile, I'll be standing by on Crazy Gadget.
	Eggman vanishes from the screen.
Rouge:	Deceiving that old man is a piece of cake. Now let me get to work.	Fooling that old fool oughta be a snap. All right, let's start hacking.
	She enters the password.
Rouge:	M-A-R-I-A...	Maria. M-A-R-I-A. Let's see what pops up here.
	Several boxes appear on the screen.
Rouge:	Where's Project Shadow?	Come on, come on...
	She locates an entry on Project Shadow.
Rouge:	Here it is! Let's see what it says. [reads] The ultimate creature development project… Someone who must not exist... [surprised] Shadow? Secure and dispose? What does this mean? Then who is he?	Ah, here we are. Project Shadow: top secret. Sounds exciting. "The ultimate creature development project." Sure sounds juicy to me... "Shadow... Sealed off...?" But how? If that's true... then who's he?
(3;4)	Space Colony A.R.K. - Viewport.
	Shadow is looking out the viewport, while a sad Chris is sitting next to him. Sonic's shuttle is soon visible among the asteroids outside.
Shadow:	He's here.	Here comes your friend.
	Excited, Chris stands up and looks out the window.
Chris:	Sonic?	You mean Sonic?
Shadow:	He's come to die.	He'd be a fool to challenge me.
Chris:	Sonic won't lose!	You're the fool, not Sonic!
Shadow:	The answer will soon become clear whether what you believe in is correct or not.	You'll see I'm right. This is one battle your friend cannot win.
	Chris is silent as they both look out the window.
(4;2)	The senior's home.
	Mr. Stewart and Scarlet are speaking with Mr. Schmitz, a former GUN soldier.
Mr. Schmitz:	Leave! I have nothing to say to the press!	Reporter, I have nothing to say to you. I just want to be left alone!
Scarlet:	Please calm down. We're not planning to write a tabloid article.	We don't want to trouble you, sir, We'd simply want to ask you a couple of questions.
Mr. Stewart:	What happened at that colony 50 years ago?	Can you tell us what happened on Space Colony ARK fifth years ago?
Mr. Schmitz:	👁 I don't know anything.	👁 ...Nothing happened.
Scarlet:	Among the former members of GUN's special forces, you're the only person we could find. Please tell us what happened.	I understand your reluctance to talk about it, sir, but you were there when it occurred, and we need to find out all that we can? Please, sir. I need to know.
Mr. Schmitz:	You have no idea how dangerous this is! There's no point in digging into this now!	You don't have any idea what you're getting involved in, young lady. Just leave it alone before you stir up trouble.

Mr. Schmitz:	OMIT	What you're investigating is much more dangerous than you know! I won't answer any of your questions and that's that!
Scarlet:	👁 But I still want to know the truth! Many people who were involved in this project lost their lives. ... Like my father… Please help us! Or else, it'll be treated as if nothing happened!	👁 Please sir, you've just got to tell us what happened! You're the only survivor. Everyone else was... lost. ...Even my father... I'm begging you, please tell us! You owe it to the memory of all those innocent people!
	Mr. Stewart places his hand on Scarlet's shoulder.
Mr. Stewart:	Scarlet.	Scarlet.
	He shakes his head.
	Soon, Scarlet and Mr. Stewart head back to the car.
Scarlet:	I'm sorry. I became too emotional.	I'm sorry. That wasn't very professional of me.
Mr. Stewart:	Don't worry about it. We just have to keep coming back to convince him.	You don't have to apologize. It must bring up a lot of painful memories for you.
	Suddenly they see four government agents in front of them.
Mr. Stewart:	Scarlet, run as fast as you can to the car.	Don't panic. Get to the car as fast as you can.
Scarlet:	Huh?	Why?
Mr. Stewart:	Hurry!	Hurry!
Scarlet:	Okay!	OMIT
	She runs toward the car.
Agent 1:	Grab the woman!	She's getting away!
	Mr. Stewart kicks the first agent to the ground. The second agent tries to attack him, but Mr. Stewart knocks him out as well.
Mr. Stewart:	Who's next?	Who's next, hm?
Agent 4:	[to Agent 3] You go!
	Agent 4 shoves Agent 3 into Mr. Stewart. He vainly grapples with him, but stands up and sheepishly grins before he is knocked out. Mr. Stewart turns to see that the fourth agent has grabbed Scarlet.
Scarlet:	What are you doing?	What do you want from me?
Mr. Stewart:	Oh no!	Scarlet!
	He races toward Scarlet.
Scarlet:	Let me go!	Let go!
Agent 4:	Calm down!	Get in the car!
	Agent 4 is suddenly karate-chopped from behind by Mr. Schmitz.
Scarlet:	You're…	Thank you.
	Two government cars bear down on them.
Mr. Schmitz:	👉 This way!	👉 This way!
	Mr. Stewart and Scarlet follow Mr. Schmitz to safety.
	Later, they are in a backyard. Mr. Stewart looks around to make sure no one sees them before rejoining Scarlet and Mr. Schmitz.
Mr. Stewart:	I think we're safe now.	I don't see them anywhere.
Scarlet:	[to Mr. Schmitz] Thank you very much.	[to Mr. Schmitz] I don't know how to thank you.
Mr. Stewart:	You sure are strong.	That was nice work.
	Mr Schmitz flexes his muscles.
Mr. Schmitz:	😉 I still work out at the gym. Besides, I don't want anyone else to die.	😉 I used to be able to handle myself okay. But... that was a long time ago.
	Scarlet is surprised.
(5;6)	Space Colony ARK - Outside.

	The shuttle approaches the space colony. There are laser batteries everywhere.
Tails:	We have to approach carefully.	I'll bet they're watching us in there.
Sonic:	Let's go to the opposite side.	You just take it slow and steady.
	Knuckles senses the Master Emerald.
Knuckles:	Stop the ship!	Hurry it up!
	He grabs the shuttle's controls.
Tails:	What do you think you're doing?	Knuckles! What's the matter with you?
Knuckles:	The Master Emerald is nearby!	The Master Emerald! It's nearby! I can feel it!
Amy:	Cut it out!	Knuckles! Let go of the wheel!
	The batteries open fire, damaging the shuttle's tail. Amy cries out.
Tanaka:	They hit the tail.	Here comes my breakfast...
Sonic:	All right! I'll let you off the ship, so get out of the cockpit!	All right! Calm down, will ya?! We're going to the same place anyway!
Knuckles:	Master Emerald!	Master Emerald, here I come!
	The shuttle makes a crash landing on Space Colony ARK.
(6;7)	Space Colony ARK - Computer Room.
Computer:	Intruder detected in Area M14.	Intuder alert. Sector M14. Intruder alert. Sector M14.
	The crashed shuttle can be seen on the computer's screen.
Rouge:	What are they doing?	I wonder who that could be...
(7;8)	Space Colony ARK - Reactor.
	Knuckles breaks down a door to the reactor. There, at the intersection of four narrow bridges, is the Master Emerald.
Knuckles:	There it is!	OMIT
	He runs toward the Master Emerald, but Rouge gets in the way.
Rouge:	Nope. I won't let you have this gem.	Uh-uh. This area's off limits, slugger.
Knuckles:	Give me back the Master Emerald!	I want that Master Emerald!
Rouge:	Sorry.	Sorry, guy.
	Rouge attempts to kick and slap Knuckles, but the echidna dodges and attempts to punch her. Rouge simply flips out of the way.
Rouge:	Aren't you ashamed of being violent against a lady?	Now that's no way to treat a lady. Didn't you learn any manners?
Knuckles:	A lady doesn't steal other people's jewels!	I've got manners, but you're no lady!
	Knuckles punches Rouge, causing some blood to fly from her lip. The momentum knocks her off the bridge. The echidna realizes his mistake and catches Rouge by the hand before she falls too far.
Knuckles:	Are you all right?	I've got ya!
	Knuckles pulls Rouge up to the ledge. She immediately withdraws her hand.
Rouge:	Get your hands off of me!	Get your hands off me.
Knuckles:	How dare you say that when I just saved your life!	Hey, if it weren't for me, you would have fallen on your head!
Rouge:	You only saved me because you wanted to hold my hand, you pervert.	Ha! Were you really trying to save me, or were you just trying to be fresh? I wonder.
Knuckles:	[angry] You must be joking! Stop looking down on me!	[angry] You're crazy! What do you mean, "fresh"?! Talk about ungrateful!
Rouge:	🤷‍♀️ You're so stupid.	🤷‍♀️ Whatever. Have it your way if it makes you happy.
	Rouge starts to leave.
Rouge:	Move!	See ya.
Knuckles:	Hey!	What about the Emerald?
Rouge:	I'll give it back to you. I don't need a jewel that reeks with the scent of echidnas.	Emerald? Take it. It's yours.
Knuckles:	You should have done this in the first place! ... I'm sorry that I treated you so rough.	What kind of game are you playing anyway? ... Even for a bat, you're batty.
	He lifts the Master Emerald above his head and prepares to leave.
Rouge:	It's about time that I leave.	That's my cue to get out of here.
	She leaves.
(8;9)	Elsewhere on Space Colony ARK.
	Tails is piloting the X-Cyclone through the halls.
Amy:	This place is desolate.	Sure is a lonely place.
Tanaka:	This place has been shut down since the accident 50 years ago.	I suspect no one has been here since the accident occurred fifty years ago.
Sonic:	We don't have that much time left! We have to hurry and destroy the weapon!	We have a big problem. How do we destroy that weapon when we find it?
Tails:	About that...	Here. Why not give this a try?
	He hands Sonic the fake Chaos Emerald.
Sonic:	A Chaos Emerald?	A Chaos Emerald?
Tails:	Chuck and I made it to power up the X-Tornado. Its power and purity is nowhere near the real thing, but it's made to absorb the energy of the Chaos Emerald and explode.	Well, it's not a real one. I made a copy to help power the X-Tornado. It's doesn't have the power of a real Chaos Emerald, but if we put it in with a real one, it might cause some kind of reaction and mess up the whole system.
Sonic:	Okay! I can use this to destroy the control system.	Okay! If this little baby does the trick, it'll be goodbye Eclipse Cannon!
	They reach the center of a room. Unknown to them, Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe are hiding nearby. They utilize a large claw from the Eggmobile.
Sonic:	What was that?	Hey! What's that?
	The claw speeds toward the back seats of the X-Cyclone, where Tanaka and Amy are. Tanaka is thrown to the ground by the claw, which grabs Amy.
Sonic:	Tanaka? ... 💧 Amy!	💧 Amy!
	A bright light shines on the X-Cyclone as Eggman reveals himself.
Eggman:	I've been waiting for you, Sonic. Give me that Chaos Emerald.Or else, she's going to die.	Let's shed some light on things. ... I will set your friend free under one condition: give me the Emerald, and I'll give you the girl.
	He lowers the claw for Sonic to see.
Sonic:	I don't care.	Let's see... Give me a minute to think it over.
	Tails is surprised.
Amy:	Sonic, what do you mean by that!	What do you mean, "Think it over"?
Eggman:	Will you still not give up when I do this?	Well, perhaps this might help you think faster!
	The claw squeezes Amy.
Amy:	It hurts!	Soooniiiic!!
	Sonic jumps down from the X-Cyclone with the fake Chaos Emerald.
Sonic:	Fine.	It's a deal.
Eggman:	Put the Chaos Emerald in the center of the circle.	Place the Emerald in the center of that circle.
	Sonic walks toward the middle of the room.
Sonic:	You're actually acting like a real villain.	Guess it's just like that old saying, "Easy come, easy go."
	Sonic places the Chaos Emerald on the ground.
Sonic:	I see you in a whole new light.	Oh well.
	Eggman presses a button, a glass tube descends around him.
Eggman:	I'll send you out into space and blow you up!	Prepare to be blown into space, my lttle blue friend.
Tails:	Wait! I'll give you the real Chaos Emerald!	No, wait! What if I promise to give you a real Chaos Emerald?
Eggman:	[surprised] What? You mean that Chaos Emerald is a fake?	[surprised] What's that? You mean to tell me that that Chaos Emerald is a counterfeit?
	Tails realizes his mistake.
Eggman:	If it's fake, then I don't have to restrain myself.	I shall make Sonic pay for your deception, you crafty creep!
Amy:	Stop! Let Sonic go!	You let Sonic go right now!
Sonic:	Amy, take care.	Hey. It's okay.
Amy:	👁 Sonic…	👁 Sonic...
Sonic:	I leave the rest to you, Tails.	You're in charge, pal. All right?
	Tails is speechless as tears form in his eyes.
Eggman:	Farewell, Sonic the Hedgehog!	Now, Sonic, it's time to say goodbye!
	It is revealed that the tube is an escape pod, which Eggman jettisons into space.
Amy:	👁 Sonic!	👁 Sonic! No!
	Eggman releases Amy, and she runs over to the window to watch the escape pod.
Amy:	Sonic…	He's gone...
	Suddenly the pod is engulfed in a fiery explosion. Amy lets out an anguished cry.
Amy:	Sonic!	Soooniiiiiiiic!!!
(9;10)	Space Colony ARK - Viewport.
	Shadow and Chris watch the explosion. Chris does not know that Sonic was inside.
Shadow:	He was nothing more than an ordinary hedgehog after all.	Your friend could not save himself.
Chris:	Sonic was inside?	Huh? You mean Sonic was in there?
Shadow:	Now you know that there's nothing in this world that's worth trusting.	Yes, I'm afraid he was. Perhaps Sonic was not the great hero you thought him to be.
Chris:	No way… Sonic couldn't have... Sonic!	You're wrong! It's can't be true! Sonic!
	Chris runs from the room.

(10;11)	Space Colony ARK - With Eggman.
Amy:	👁 Sonic…	👁 He's gone...
	She sobs openly.
Eggman:	Too bad for you, but he's gone. [to Tails] Now give me the last Chaos Emerald.	Quit your blubbering and hand over that Emerald! I can't sit here all day waiting for your crocodile tears to dry!
Tails:	Sonic… That was the first time that Sonic asked me to handle things for him.	I won't let you down, Sonic. I'll never give him what he wants.
	Eggman listens closer.
Tails:	[determined] So, I'm not going to run away! Amy and Tanaka, hide somewhere because it's going to dangerous!	[determined] I'll be strong. I won't let myself run away this time! Amy, Mr. Tanaka, stay out of the way!
Tanaka:	Amy, let's go.	Amy, follow me.
	They leave.
Eggman:	What can you do by yourself, you weak fox cub?	You've tried my patience for far too long. You asked for it!
	Eggman fires at the X-Cyclone, which leaps into the air and returns fire. Eggman dodges.
Eggman:	How rude!	I'll make you pay for that!
(11;12)	Station Square.
Mr. Schmitz:	Our mission was simple. There was an accident on ARK, so we were told to close the facility.	Our mission seemed pretty straightforward at the time. I ordered us to close the facility because of some sort of accident.
Scarlet:	An accident?	Go on.
Mr. Schmitz:	However, none of us were brave enough to question it. We followed orders and went into space.	A couple of us knew they weren't telling the whole story...
(12;13)	Space Colony ARK - Flashback.
Mr. Schmitz:	[narrating] However, none of us were brave enough to question it. We followed orders and went into space.	[narrating] ...but none of us had the guts to speak up. We just did our jobs and went up to space like we were told.
	Several GUN soldiers break into a lab, where scientists are running tests; one of the subjects being a large green lizard. The GUN soldiers point their weapons at the scientists, who raise their hands.
Mr. Schmitz:	[narrating] There were many rumors about ARK. Such as doing research for eternal life or creating the ultimate life form.	[narrating] None of us knew what to expect. At that time we had heard all sorts or rumors about the ARK. Some said they were experimenting with the concept of eternal life. Others said they had created something called the ultimate creature.
	One of the GUN soldiers, Mr. Schmitz, spots Maria near a control panel.
Mr. Schmitz:	Stop!	Stop!
	But Maria takes off running.
Mr. Schmitz:	After her! Don't let any of the staff escape!	OMIT
	Mr. Schmitz pursues Maria, who flees through an automatic door. The soldier catches up, but sees several life forms floating in tubes.
Mr. Schmitz:	An experimental life form?	It's the creature!
	He also notices Maria about to pull a lever.
Mr. Schmitz:	She's planning to free it!	She's setting it free!
	He shoots the control panel, which opens the door, before heading in.
Mr. Schmitz:	Stop!	Freeze!
	He points his gun at Maria.
Mr. Schmitz:	Let go of the lever.	Take your hand off that lever.
	But Maria grasps the lever with both hands.
Mr. Schmitz:	Don't do anything stupid!	I'm not fooling around here!
	Maria is determined to pull the lever.
Mr. Schmitz:	Stop!	OMIT
	Maria pulls the lever, and the pods are launched.
Mr. Schmitz:	Stop!	OMIT
(13;14)	Station Square.
Mr. Schmitz:	👁 All I wanted to do was stop her…	👁 She was so young... I'll never forget her face...
	He buries his face in his hands, and Mr. Stewart and Scarlet glance at each other.
	Back in the flashback, the pods are seen descending toward Earth.
Mr. Schmitz:	I didn't know where the pod went. Our mission ended when we sealed away the prototype of the ultimate life form.	We sealed off the area, and they took her away. The mission ended, and we all went home.
Scarlet:	So that's what really happened 50 years ago.	But wasn't there any kind of investigation?
Mr. Schmitz:	We got rid of the researchers who resisted, and it was all covered up as an accident. The girl's name was also on the list of victims.	The official report called it "an unfortunate accident", and we were all sworn to secrecy. But I know that it wasn't an accident and nobody can tell me otherwise!
	Mr. Schmitz buries his head in his hands.
Mr. Schmitz:	I volunteered for GUN because I wanted to be a hero that protects the peace. But in reality…	I volunteered for that force as a young man because I wanted to give back to the country I loved! But then... But then they...
	Mr. Schmitz starts crying. Scarlet lays her hand on his shoulder.
Scarlet:	We won't let your feelings go to waste.	I understand now. Thank you.
(14;15)	Space Colony ARK.

	Chris is running through the corridors.
Chris:	[to himself] Sonic wouldn't die! I believe in you. So you have to come back!	[to himself] He's wrong! Sonic wasn't in there! He couldn't be! It's not true! It's not true!
	Meanwhile, Knuckles is carrying the Master Emerald down another hallway. Suddenly a bright light materializes in front of him. Sonic emerges from the light and falls on the ground.
Knuckles:	Sonic?	Sonic!
	He puts down the Master Emerald and bends down to Sonic's level.
Knuckles:	Hey, pull yourself together!	Hey. Are you all right?
	Sonic wakes up.
Sonic:	Knuckles?	I'm okay.
	He sits up and holds up the fake Chaos Emerald.
Sonic:	I really was able to do it when I tried.	I want to try something.
	In the pod, minutes ago...
Sonic:	Can I do it? ... Chaos Control!	Now... Let's see if this works... Chaos Control!
	He vanishes.
	Back in the present.
Sonic:	I shouldn't have underestimated it just because it's a replica.	This may be a fake, but it works.
Knuckles:	Are you all right?	You gonna tell me what's going on or not?
Sonic:	I'm worried about Tails and the others. Knuckles, can you watch them for me?	Yeah, I will, but first things first. I need you to keep an eye on Tails and the others.
Knuckles:	And what about you?	Okay.

	Rouge is communicating with Topaz, who is still at Eggman's base.
Rouge:	[on radio] I see. ... Roger. I'm copying the data as we speak.	[on radio] Now don't you worry your pretty little head, Topaz. I'm copying all the data as we speak.
(16;17)	Eggman's Pyramid Base - Outside.
Topaz:	[on radio] It seems that destroying the Eclipse Cannon won't put an end to all the problems. ... Project Shadow…	[on radio] Just be sure that you get every bit of information. Don't leave anything behind, Rouge. ...We need to know all we can.
(17;18)	Space Colony ARK - Computer Room.
	After the data has been copied, a floppy disk is ejected, and Rouge picks it up.
Rouge:	[on radio] It looks like there's something more going on. Eggman doesn't know the details either, but I have a bad feeling about this.	[on radio] I got it all, honey, and it looos like there's plenty of it. Even that dope Eggman doesn't know the whole story. And it's quite a story.
(18;19)	Eggman's Pyramid Base - Outside.
Topaz:	[on radio] You should retrieve the Chaos Emeralds and leave.	[on radio] You'd better hurry up and get out of there. Have you got the Emeralds?
(19;20)	Space Colony ARK - Computer Room.
	Rouge' radio is on the floor.
Topaz:	[over radio] We'll analyze the data when you're back on land, Rouge.	[over radio] We can analyze the data when you get back. After that, we can che--
	Suddenly a newly-arrived Shadow crushes Rouge's radio underfoot.
Shadow:	If you don't want to die, keep your hands off the Chaos Emeralds. You're the President's special agent Rouge the Bat.	I suggest you keep your hands off those Chaos Emeralds. We wouldn't want them to fall into the wrong hands, now would we, Agent Rouge?
Rouge:	[smirks] Did you check up on me? That's an invasion of privacy.	[smirks] Have you been spying on me? Aren't you the naughty little boy.
Shadow:	I can say the same about you.	You've been a government spy all this time.
Rouge:	I finished my job, so I'm taking what I came here to get and going home.	Uh-huh. Now that I have my hands on this hot little disc here, I think I'll make my exit if you don't mind.
Shadow:	You're an impostor.	I do mind, you phony!
Rouge:	Which one of us is the real impostor?	That's pretty funny coming from you.
Shadow:	...What do you mean by that?	...What do you mean by that?
(20;21)	Space Colony ARK - With Tails.
	Tails and Eggman continue to exchange fire. Soon both their vehicles are nose to nose.
Tails:	This will finish you!	This is for Sonic!
	The X-Cyclone fires a massive beam which blows both their vehicles into the opposite walls. Tails exits his vehicle and chokes on the resulting smoke. Tanaka and Amy rush over.
Amy:	Tails, are you all right?	You're not hurt, are you, Tails?
Tails:	Sonic, I did it!	It worked. I did it.
	However, Eggman confiscates the Chaos Emerald using his claw.
Tails:	Oh no! The Chaos Emerald!	Oh no! Give that back to me!
	He grins as the door shuts in front of him.
Pause for commercial break.
(21;22)	Space Colony ARK - Computer Room.
	Rouge holds up a Project Shadow progress report for Shadow to see.
Rouge:	This is the progress report for Project Shadow, a plan to create the ultimate life form. The body they created is still held here.	According to this, the body for the original creature was sealed off fifty years ago.
Shadow:	I know. That's a prototype. I'm the ultimate life form they created afterwards-	Yes, that's right, but that was the prototype. I was the very first creature created after that one.
Rouge:	Two capsules were ejected when ARK was shut down. But neither was found. They couldn't lock up in Prison Island what they couldn't find. Do you understand? ... I wonder who you really are.	Ah, but it says here there were two capsules ejected from the ARK when the facility was shut down. Apparently neither of them was ever found. And if those two capsules were never found, then how did you end up on Prison Island? I wonder. ... I have a feeling neither of us is who we say we are.
	Shadow's radio crackles.
Eggman:	[over radio] Shadow, I acquired all the Chaos Emeralds.	[over radio] Good news, Shadow! I've gotten a hold of the Chaos Emeralds!
Shadow:	[on radio] Right.	[on radio] And?
Eggman:	[over radio] Someone is heading straight towards the Eclipse Cannon. It's going to fire very soon. I want you to go there.	[over radio] It appears one of out enemies is headed straight for the Eclipse Cannon. We have no time to waste. Prepare for takeoff immediately!
	Shadow starts to leave.
Rouge:	Do you actually believe that you're the real Shadow?	Come back! Don't you understand you're not the real Shadow?
	Shadow does not answer.
Rouge:	👉 All your memories might be fake!	👉 Everything in your memories is as unreal as you are!
Shadow:	Even if my memories are fake, that's all I have. All I care about is carrying out her wishes.	If it is true that all of my memories are not my own, they are still all that I have. I will do what I must. I promised her.
	Shadow leaves, and Rouge crosses her arms.
(22;23)	Space Colony ARK - With Knuckles.
	Knuckles stops running when he sees Shadow moving along a conveyor belt below.
Knuckles:	Is he going after Sonic?	Him again. He must be going after Sonic.
???:	So Sonic is OK?	Then Sonic's all right!
	Knuckles turns to see an out-of-breath Chris standing there.
Chris:	I'm so glad, Sonic.	Sonic... He's okay...
???:	Chris!	Master Chris, it is you!
	Tanaka runs toward Chris.
Chris:	Hi, Tanaka.	Hi, Mr. Tanaka.
Tanaka:	Chris!	Ah...
	Tanaka embraces Chris in a tearful reunion.
Tanaka:	Chris. Thank goodness you're okay.	Master Chris... Are you all right?
Chris:	I'm sorry I made you worry, Tanaka.	Yeah, except I can't really breathe!
	Knuckles, Amy, and Tails look on.

(23;24)	Space Colony ARK - The Conveyor Belts.
	Sonic is riding one of the conveyor belts.
???:	I'm surprised.	What a surprise.
	Sonic sees Shadow nearby.
Shadow:	I thought that explosion turned you into space dust.	I could have sworn you were blown to bits just a short time ago.
	Sonic hops onto the other belt and walks against it.
Sonic:	Sorry, but I'm known for being stubborn. I was saved thanks to you.	Well, I guess I'm a lot tougher than I look. In fact, it's thanks to you I'm okay.
Shadow:	What? You were able to Chaos Control with that fake?	I see. You caused Chaos Control with that phony Emerald there.
Sonic:	I'm in a hurry, so I'll go on ahead!	Yup. I gotta run!
	Sonic begins running, but Shadow catches up to him.
Shadow:	It seems your appearance isn't the only thing that's similar to me. Who are you?	I'm afraid I cannot let you get away from me that easily, my friend. Now, I demand to know who you are.
Sonic:	I'm me. I'm just an adventure-loving hedgehog. I'm Sonic the Hedgehog!	Who, me? I'm just a guy with a need for speed. They call me Sonic the Hedgehog!
Shadow:	I see. But I can no longer allow you to exist. Your adventures will now come to an end!	Ah, yes. I can well understand your love of speed, Sonic, but now your high-speed adventure must come to an end!
	They both take off down the belts.
(24;25)	Space Colony ARK - Computer Room.
	Bocoe and Decoe are typing in the computer.
Decoe:	Begin charging energy for Eclipse Cannon's second shot!	Eclipse Cannon is nearly ready to launch again, Doctor Eggman!
Bocoe:	Removing final safety mechanism!	I will release the safety device.
	Eggman snickers as he holds the last Chaos Emerald.
(25;26)	Space Colony ARK - The Conveyor Belts.
Shadow:	Vanish! Chaos Spear!	Chaos Spear!
	Shadow throws a bolt of pure Chaos energy at Sonic, who dodges. Sonic attempts a home attack which misses.
Shadow:	Chaos Spear!	Chaos Spear!
	Shadow throws several Chaos Spears at Sonic, which damage the pipework inside the Eclipse Cannon.
Sonic:	[to himself] What's he thinking?	[to himself] What's he trying to do, barbecue me?
(26;27)	Space Colony ARK - Viewport.
	Chris and co. watch as several parts of the Eclipse Cannon begin glowing.
Chris:	The Eclipse Cannon!	It's the Eclipse Cannon!
Knuckles:	Sonic did it!	Sonic must have done that.
Tails:	Everything will be over as long as we get the Chaos Emeralds back!	Now all we have to do is get that Chaos Emerald back from Eggman! Then we'll be in the clear!
	Chris looks sad. Will Sonic and his friends return home this time?
(27;28)	Space Colony ARK - Computer Room.
	Bocoe and Decoe assess the situation.
Decoe:	Several parts of the Eclipse Cannon have been destroyed!	Doctor! The Eclipse Cannon has been badly damaged!
Bocoe:	What the heck is Shadow doing?	What does Shadow think he's doing?
Decoe:	Even the gun barrel is damaged!	Oh no! The gun battery has been hit!
Eggman:	What? ... It doesn't matter! I'll still shoot!	...Well, fire it anyway!
	He inserts the last Chaos Emerald, then pushes his hench-bots aside.
Eggman:	Move! Eclipse Cannon, fire!	Eclipse Cannon, fire!
	He punches through the glass over a button and presses it. The Chaos Emeralds begin glowing, but stop.
Eggman:	Huh?	Huh? Huh? Huh?
	A timer reading 00:27:53:00 appears, followes by several images of Gerald Robotnik, who is shown to be in the same prison Sonic was in earlier.
Eggman:	Gramps?	Grandpa!
(28;29)	Space Colony ARK - The Conveyor Belts.	OMIT
Shadow:	Chaos Spear!	OMIT
	Sonic still attempts to outrun Shadow and his Chaos Spears. Then Gerald's foreboding voice echoes a grim warning which can be heard throughout the entire space station.
Gerald:	I declare a death sentence on all mankind. In 27 minutes and 53 seconds, ARK will crash into Earth. You and Earth will die together.	The countdown marking my final revenge on this world has begun! In just a few minutes, you will be destroyed. Soon, Space Colony Ark will hurtle through the atmosphere and crash into this planet with cataclysmic force!
	The countdown begins.
